The 550L was a new class of refrigerators because of it’s large size and high specification of materials. Our goal was to design a luxury refrigerator that aesthetically appealing and also a customized interior to store large quantities of food. It had to be bold and dynamic but simple in design to meet this goal. The styling was influenced by high end wrist watches and rich home interiors.
Reporting to my design manager to consult with concept development and mechanical ideas for the shelving unit and user interface of the control panel was becoming a daily routine. During this process I visited the prototype maker to help move the project along by analyzing and making decisions on final details. I handled most of the concept work and also relaying CAD drawings to prototype makers and making final inspections of the model before entering the manufacturing stage.
